LiveYourDream.org is a movement fiercely dedicated to ensuring every woman and girl has the opportunity to reach her full potential, be free from violence, and live her dreams. We are powered by Soroptimist, a global volunteer organization that provides women and girls with access to the education and training they need to achieve economic empowerment.

Our Blog

Your Dream connects, mobilizes, and empowers a passionate community of over 300,000 annual readers! Your Dream offers educational content on social issues as well as inspired reading for everyday life. It increases recognition for our mission and offers impactful content to keep our activists and donors engaged. It is also a resource for women and girls looking to carve their own paths to empowerment. As a nonprofit, almost all of our blog content is written by generous volunteers like you. Check out some articles to get inspired! »

Becoming a Contributor

Here’s what you need to succeed:

• A passion for women’s issues and an understanding of contemporary women’s movements
• Outstanding written communication skills and a clear and compelling author’s voice
• Strong research skills; can identify credible sources, gather and organize, and cross check information
• A basic understanding of marketing, social media, blogging

Blog Contributor Guidelines

Please review the following guidelines for participating as a contributor.

Article Topics

To best support our marketing efforts, we prefer contributors to write pre-selected article topics that we assign based on our current content strategy. However, we are open to other topic ideas, provided they fall within our guidelines and align with our brand. Categories include:

Activism	Break down an issue related to gender inequality and share actionable ways people can make a difference.
Lifestyle	Explore topics like self-care, mindfulness, family, or setting healthy boundaries.
Education	Provide advice for students such as choosing colleges, managing school stress, or handling harassment.
Career	Share tips on networking, finding mentors, or preparing for interviews.
Finance	Offer resources like budgeting for single moms or understanding student loans.
News/Culture	Provide thoughtful perspectives on current events or gender-related pop culture and media.
Stories	Inspire others by sharing your journey of overcoming challenges.

We Do Not Allow

• ❌ Sponsored posts.
• ❌ Self-promotion, including promotion of businesses, services, or products.
• ❌ Paid backlinks, advertisements, or product placements.
• ❌ Plagiarism or unoriginal content.
• ❌ Articles that have been previously published elsewhere (e.g. your personal blog).
• ❌ Content that contradicts our mission of empowering women and girls.
• ❌ Graphic or explicit language that is not essential to the topic.
• ❌ Political partisanship or advocacy for specific parties or candidates.
• ❌ Religious language or proselytizing.
• ❌ Exclusionary, discriminatory, or harmful language.
• ❌ Unsubstantiated claims or conspiracy theories.

We reserve the right to edit or decline any submission for any reason, including but not limited to failure to adhere to guidelines or if the content is not a good fit for our platform.

Article Guidelines

1. Tone: Write in a conversational and relatable style, balancing storytelling, facts, and advice.
2. Content:
   • Research: Articles must be well-researched and supported by credible sources such as news outlets, nonprofits, or educational websites. (Look for sites that end in .org, .edu, or .gov)
   • Backlinks: Please include 2-3 backlinks to a credible source. NO backlinking schemes or paid link placements. Links will be vetted.
   • Opinions: Stay non-partisan but grounded in the realities of women’s empowerment.
3. Structure:
   • Length: 300–800 words (1–2 pages), though longer pieces are accepted occasionally.
   • Formatting: Include an engaging title and at least two sub-headers.
   • Citations: You do not need to include formal citations at the end of the post. Please use inline links if you are citing other articles or websites.

Submission Process

💡 1. Pitch Your Idea: Email us to propose your topic or choose from our content suggestions.

✅ 2. Topic Approval: If proposing your own topic, we will let you know whether it is approved.

✍️ 3. Write Your Article: Follow these guidelines to create your draft.

📤 4. Submit Your Draft: Upload your draft via our Blog Submission Form.

✏️ 5. Editorial Review:

• We may make edits for clarity, grammar, or formatting.
• Changes may be made to ensure alignment with our audience and brand and to strengthen SEO. Articles may be re-titled. 
• Content may be revised to ensure they adhere to our standards and guidelines.

✨ 6. Publishing: Once finalized, we’ll format your piece and notify you when it’s live.

Where Will Your Article Be Shared?

• Blogs that meet our standards will be published on yourdream.liveyourdream.org. 
• We reserve the right to promote guest blogs on all owned channels including social media, web, and email.
• Some blogs will be cross-posted to the soroptimist.org website to help reach our volunteer membership.
